Opportunity Shop (St. John's Church, Norwood Parish)

To Consign:

Call the Opportunity Shop (301-654-4999) any Tuesday morning at 8:00 AM to make an appointment for that same Tuesday between 8:00 AM and 11:00 AM. Or, if you're prepared to wait in line, come into the side door of the Shop any Tuesday morning between 8:30 and 9:00 AM without an appointment.

You may consign ten (10) items per person. Each consignment contract may include no more than two (2) items of jewelry; clothing and books are not accepted for consignment; and from time to time limitations are imposed on other types of items as posted in the "back room." There is a minimum price of $4.00 on each consigned item.

The consigner receives 65% of the sale price of each item sold, and the Shop retains 35% of each item sold.

Consignment items are kept in the Shop for four (4) weeks and any unsold items are returned to the owner after four weeks. The Consigner is responsible for picking up such unsold items at the expiration of the contract term as the Shop does not have storage space to keep items for longer than a week after the contract expiration date. Items not picked up by the owner are retained by the Shop as donations.

When you come in to consign, you will sit down with a volunteer who will help you price each of your items at what you agree is a fair price.

To Donate:

Come into the Shop at any time during Shop hours (Tuesday through Saturday, 10:00 AM through 4:00 PM) to make donations. We accept clothing, jewelry, small household items, small pieces of furniture, lamps, silver, china, porcelain, glass, linens, books, pictures, toys, baby equipment, and miscellaneous items. Items are expected to be clean, unbroken, not torn, and in working order.

The cashier will give you a tax certificate for your tax records as evidence of your charitable contribution.
